Rated 4.9 out of 5 stars by nearly 50 members and guests, Elks Lodge #1229 on C H Matthies Jr has earned that reputation the old-fashioned way: by actually showing up. Christmas parties for kids with Santa, presents, and live music. Wednesday and Friday bingo that draws regulars who call it their second home. Event halls that clubs, families, and community groups book again and again because the staff handles the setup and the cleanup.

The Seguin community has found something real here. Reviewers consistently mention the warmth of the staff, the fairness of the prices, and the feeling of being welcomed like family rather than a stranger at a door. That is not an accident. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has operated on the principle of caring for veterans, supporting youth, and strengthening local communities since its founding in 1868, and Lodge #1229 carries that mission forward every single week.

From bingo nights that pack the hall with laughter to private celebrations where every detail is handled with care, this lodge is a working part of Seguin's social fabric. Come for an event. Stay because it feels like home.

What We Offer

Lodge #1229 opens its doors for far more than members only. The event hall is available for private parties, family reunions, corporate gatherings, and community celebrations. Members who have hosted here rave about one specific perk: the ability to arrive early and decorate, then leave without lifting a broom. The staff handles post-event cleanup, which turns a stressful evening into a genuinely enjoyable one.

Bingo runs every Wednesday and Friday at 12:30 p.m., offering more game variety than most dedicated bingo halls in the area. The full bar keeps things social, with prices that members consistently describe as fair and generous. The lodge also opens its space to community organizations, including church groups and youth programs, making it a genuine multi-purpose community hub in Seguin, TX.

Membership in the Elks brings additional benefits: access to the lounge and bar, eligibility for lodge programs, and the satisfaction of contributing to local charitable work that funds scholarships, veteran support, and youth initiatives throughout Guadalupe County.

"I visited this location but another business which is a church. My neice and I enjoyed a Christmas celebration here with children, music, singing, food and presents from Santa. Everyone loved the service and the story of Jesus birth in Bethlehem which was so powerful. The children sang Christmas carols and opened presents which filled us with joy. Everyone in church greeted you with a smile and a warm hug and handshake. Will be visiting this church again at start of New Year which is just a few days from now."

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
